Winter Solstice Eruption
After the historic 2018 eruption and summit collapse, Kilauea Volcano remained quiet for over 2 years. On the night of December 20th, 2020, Pele returned home to Halema’uma’u Crater. The Winter Solstice Eruption allows viewers to immerse themselves in this incredible event from start to finish as it occurred at a time when lava was almost entirely hidden from public view. Along with a powerful and psychedelic soundtrack from veteran music producer John Fryer, the film uses dynamic motion sequences captured through each stage of the eruption. The result is a visceral, moving collage meant to honor one beautiful chapter in Kilauea Volcano’s hyper-active history. Behind the scenes vlogs coming soon…

HI Altitude: Hawaii's Tallest Volcanoes
‘HI Altitude: Hawaii’s Tallest Volcanoes’ brings viewers through stunning high elevation landscapes featuring the highest peaks in the Hawaiian Islands. Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hualalai and Haleakala are the four highest mountains in Hawai’i, experience these volcanic giants through epic time-lapse sequences captured from the otherworldly slopes of Maui and Hawai’i Island. See the early release! Get 4K downloads and more with a monthly pledge of support on Patreon. I was born and raised on the slopes of Mauna Loa here in south Kona. In recent years I’ve been building a long term time-lapse project with many different adventures around the island. With elevations reaching close to 14Kft, sub-freezing temperatures and 40% less oxygen than sea-level, these towering majestic mountain slopes can make for some extremely intense and potentially dangerous productions. As part of my Cinematic Volcanoes Adventure Filmmaking Vlog (CVvlog), I documented my solo production on three of the time-lapse sequences featured in HI Altitude. In Lake Waiau Part 1, I set out on a mission to capture a 6 hour Milky Way time-lapse from the only lake on Hawaii Island. Lake Waiau sits at around 13,025ft elevation and the night sky views are absolutely some of the best you’ll find […]

SINK INTO THE VOID AND EXPERIENCE 5.5 MINUTES OF CINEMATIC HYPNOSIS, AN ABSTRACT ASTRAL JOURNEY THROUGH SPACE AND TIME AS SEEN THROUGH THE PORTALS ON MAUNA LOA. *ReflectionVOID1.5 – Portals on Mauna Loa has earned a Vimeo Staff Pick on November 4th, 2020! In 2017, along with Co-Producer Jesse Andrew Clark, we released the short experimental film ReflectionVOID. We earned the Vimeo staff pick which is always good for great exposure with a fantastic audience. Our VOID1 sequences open and close the ‘Earth’ episode of Adult Swim’s show ‘Off the Air’ and we won a couple awards at the Time-lapse Film Festival. There is also a VOID2 concept in the works, it takes place in Oregon and will be a true time-lapse/narrative hybrid, more on that later. For the time being we now have VOID1.5 to hold us over. It was the early summer of 2020, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic and every major production on indefinite hold. I decided to go ahead with a creative project that would […]

The film uses select footage from Lance Page, Michael Lienau and G. Brad Lewis with a very special shot by Adrian Hein and blends together a rich visual feast. Featuring Sam Cossman in full lava suit at lava rivers edge, testing out C-THRU from Qwake Technologies. As the visuals dazzle, the original music and sound design helmed by Stefan Scott Nelson and Kevin Dippold creates a dark dreamy melody that nicely accents the incredible, beautiful and bizarre wonder of nature. The otherworldly sound mix is accompanied by Stephanie Dosen’s powerful vocals blended with a handful of other choice musical contributions. Rather than use a more literal documentary style of storytelling, the film keeps a visceral, sensory driven approach as in the style of Page’s previous two […]
