In recent years I’ve been building a long term time-lapse project with many different adventures around the island. With elevations reaching close to 14Kft, sub-freezing temperatures and 40% less oxygen than sea-level, these towering majestic mountain slopes can make for some extremely intense and potentially dangerous productions. As part of my Cinematic Volcanoes Adventure Filmmaking Vlog (CVvlog), I documented my solo production on three of the time-lapse sequences featured in HI Altitude. In Lake Waiau Part 1, I set out on a mission to capture a 6 hour Milky Way time-lapse from the only lake on Hawaii Island. Lake Waiau sits at around 13,025ft elevation and the night sky views are absolutely some of the best you’ll find […]

FOLLOWING REFLECTIONVOID (2017) THE PORTALS NOW FLOAT HIGH ON HAWAII’S MAUNA LOA VOLCANO. THE STARS CONTINUE SINGING TO US SO VIBRANTLY, THEY ARE LITERALLY WHAT WE USED TO BE. SINK INTO THE VOID AND EXPERIENCE 5.5 MINUTES OF CINEMATIC HYPNOSIS, AN ABSTRACT ASTRAL JOURNEY THROUGH SPACE AND TIME AS SEEN THROUGH THE PORTALS ON MAUNA LOA. *ReflectionVOID1.5 – Portals on Mauna Loa has earned a Vimeo Staff Pick on November 4th, 2020! In 2017, along with Co-Producer Jesse Andrew Clark, we released the short experimental film ReflectionVOID. We earned the Vimeo staff pick which is always good for great exposure with a fantastic audience. Our VOID1 sequences open and close the ‘Earth’ episode of Adult Swim’s show ‘Off the Air’ and we won a couple awards at the Time-lapse Film Festival. There is also a VOID2 concept in the works, it takes place in Oregon and will be a true time-lapse/narrative hybrid, more on that later. For the time being we now have VOID1.5 to hold us over. It was the early summer of 2020, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic and every major production on indefinite hold. I decided to go ahead with a creative project that would […]

The film uses select footage from Lance Page, Michael Lienau and G. Brad Lewis with a very special shot by Adrian Hein and blends together a rich visual feast. Featuring Sam Cossman in full lava suit at lava rivers edge, testing out C-THRU from Qwake Technologies. As the visuals dazzle, the original music and sound design helmed by Stefan Scott Nelson and Kevin Dippold creates a dark dreamy melody that nicely accents the incredible, beautiful and bizarre wonder of nature. The otherworldly sound mix is accompanied by Stephanie Dosen’s powerful vocals blended with a handful of other choice musical contributions. Rather than use a more literal documentary style of storytelling, the film keeps a visceral, sensory driven approach as in the style of Page’s previous two […]

Visions of the Cascades

Visions of the Cascades

by Lance Page· August 23, 2018· in · 0 comments
Visions of the Cascades is a mesmerizing collage of the beautiful mountain peaks of the Pacific Northwest. Each mountain presents its own unique character as it’s blanketed with the inevitable passing of time. The sequences of VOTC were shot almost entirely solo and over the course of a 3 year period. There were many multi-day backpacking trips with heavy packs and road trips up and down the Pacific Northwest. Featuring music by Rafe Mandel and Stefan Scott Nelson. Page Films is on Patreon, subscribers can see sneak peaks at new projects and free 4K downloads for our On Demand titles including Visions of the Cascades. More about the project: Beginning back in 2015 after I had moved to Portland, OR for a second time, I began what would come to be a years long project featuring many of the Cascade mountain peaks. One of my strategies consisted of picking a Cascade mountain then planning a backpacking shoot around the alpine forest part of the mountain so I could have lots of great perspectives of the peaks. Most of the time, this consisted of hiking with heavy packs full of camping and camera gear for miles in order to find the […]
