"Ignite the Cosmos" - Mauna Loa 2022 Eruption
With the waxing moon and cloud cover there were just a few moments to capture the stars above this eruption. I was excited to have this opportunity with this perspective from across the way on Mauna Kea.
The 2022 Mauna Loa eruption for me really was the eruption of a lifetime. I was born and raised on the western slopes in south Kona. The previous eruption from Mauna Loa was in 1984, two years before I was born. The volcano then took a 38 year pause before erupting again in 2022 which became the first Mauna Loa eruption of my lifetime.
