"King of the Geminids" - Fireball Meteor

from $295.00

A fireball meteor capture of a lifetime. This is by far the biggest and brightest meteor within the best meteor shower I’ve ever experienced in all my years chasing these celestial events.

This was the peak night of the 2018 Geminids Meteor Shower in December. I camped for three nights on Kilauea to capture a bunch of timelapse for my Celestial Events project. This was just before dawn on the third night, I was standing in the opposite direction watching an incredible show as suddenly the campground lit up with a soft light. I thought someone pulled in with their brights on, before I realized was it was it was gone. I turned around and immediately concluded it was a fireball bright enough to light up the ground.

I was absolutely elated to find my timelapsing camera facing south captured this fireball perfectly in frame as it lit up the high clouds around it.
