"Ohia Lavabow" - Lava Rainbow with Ohia Tree and Stars
So far I have seen three lava rainbows in my lifetime. When there’s a lava fountain shining bright in the caldera at the same time as the trade winds are bringing in rain, sometimes a rainbow forms in the sky purely from lava light. This was the best one I’ve seen, it literally shined in the sky all night long. This was during the sidewall vent that picked up steam near the end of the June, 2023 eruption within Halema’uma’u Crater.
